However, it is mainly during the last decade that scholars started covering a range of topics from a variety of perspectives, weaving together fields such as logics, semantics, pragmatics, and psychology. For example, researchers increasingly challenged notions widely referred to by linguists such as explicit/implicit meaning, direct/indirect speech acts in the light of psychological plausibility. Some of them even questioned the kind of methodology used in traditional experimental psycholinguistics. The papers gathered in this volume specifically address the most important issues related to implicit contents and utterance interpretation: inferential mechanisms, figurative language, indirect speech acts, sarcastic expressions, and untruthful implicatures. The volume sheds new light on linguistic and psycholinguistic approaches to utterance interpretation. 01 00 03 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/475/bjl.28.png 01 01 D502 https://benjamins.com/covers/475_jpg/9789027226884.jpg 01 01 D504 https://benjamins.com/covers/475_tif/9789027226884.tif 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/1200_front/bjl.28.pb.png 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/125/bjl.28.png 02 00 03 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/1200_back/bjl.28.pb.png 03 00 03 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/3d_web/bjl.28.pb.png 01 01 JB code bjl.28.00int 06 10.1075/bjl.28.00int 1 2 2 Miscellaneous 1 01 04 Introduction Introduction 1 A01 01 JB code 9224714 Daniela Rossi Rossi, Daniela Daniela Rossi Université Libre de Bruxelles 07 https://benjamins.com/catalog/persons/9224714 2 A01 01 JB code 376224715 Nicolas Ruytenbeek Ruytenbeek, Nicolas Nicolas Ruytenbeek Université Libre de Bruxelles 07 https://benjamins.com/catalog/persons/376224715 01 eng 01 01 JB code bjl.28.01gio 06 10.1075/bjl.28.01gio 3 18 16 Article 2 01 04 Resonating with default nonsalient interpretations Resonating with default nonsalient interpretations 01 04 A corpus-based study of negative sarcasm A corpus-based study of negative sarcasm 1 A01 01 JB code 86224716 Rachel Giora Giora, Rachel Rachel Giora Tel Aviv University 07 https://benjamins.com/catalog/persons/86224716 2 A01 01 JB code 228224717 Ari Drucker Drucker, Ari Ari Drucker 07 https://benjamins.com/catalog/persons/228224717 3 A01 01 JB code 266224718 Ofer Fein Fein, Ofer Ofer Fein 07 https://benjamins.com/catalog/persons/266224718 01 eng 01 01 JB code bjl.28.02gib 06 10.1075/bjl.28.02gib 19 44 26 Article 3 01 04 Is a general theory of utterance interpretation really possible?
