It is primarily based on data collections of mostly unknown languages on which the author worked for more than 10 years on several projects. This comparative study of tonology represents a significant contribution not only to the historical-comparative study of Tibeto-Burman, but also to the larger field of linguistic theory, especially now that the subject increasingly begins to be approached along diachronic lines. With this in mind, it is hoped that this work will provoke future research in the field. 04 09 01 https://benjamins.com/covers/475/cilt.54.png 04 03 01 https://benjamins.com/covers/475_jpg/9789027235480.jpg 04 03 01 https://benjamins.com/covers/475_tif/9789027235480.tif 06 09 01 https://benjamins.com/covers/1200_front/cilt.54.hb.png 07 09 01 https://benjamins.com/covers/125/cilt.54.png 25 09 01 https://benjamins.com/covers/1200_back/cilt.54.hb.png 27 09 01 https://benjamins.com/covers/3d_web/cilt.54.hb.png 10 01 JB code cilt.54.01ack v 1 Miscellaneous 1 <TitleType>01</TitleType> <TitleText textformat="02">Acknowledgment</TitleText> 10 01 JB code cilt.54.02lis xiv 1 Miscellaneous 2 <TitleType>01</TitleType> <TitleText textformat="02">List of charts</TitleText> 10 01 JB code cilt.54.03abb xvi 1 Miscellaneous 3 <TitleType>01</TitleType> <TitleText textformat="02">Abbreviations</TitleText> 10 01 JB code cilt.54.04exp xvi 1 Miscellaneous 4 <TitleType>01</TitleType> <TitleText textformat="02">Explanation of phonetic symbols and diacritics</TitleText> 10 01 JB code cilt.54.05int 1 1 Chapter 5 <TitleType>01</TitleType> <TitleText textformat="02">1.
