For example, in multi-agent systems, an electronic agent searches around the internet, and collects certain kinds of information by asking questions to other agents. Such agents also reason with each other when they engage in negotiation and persuasion. It is shown in this book that critical argumentation is best represented in this framework by the model of reasoned argument called a dialog, in which two or more parties engage in a polite and orderly exchange with each other according to rules governed by conversation policies. In such dialog argumentation, the two parties reason together by taking turns asking questions, offering replies, and offering reasons to support a claim. They try to settle their disagreements by an orderly conversational exchange that is partly adversarial and partly collaborative. 01 00 03 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/475/cvs.5.png 01 01 D502 https://benjamins.com/covers/475_jpg/9789027218858.jpg 01 01 D504 https://benjamins.com/covers/475_tif/9789027218858.tif 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/1200_front/cvs.5.hb.png 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/125/cvs.5.png 02 00 03 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/1200_back/cvs.5.hb.png 03 00 03 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/3d_web/cvs.5.hb.png 01 01 JB code cvs.5.01ack 06 10.1075/cvs.5.01ack xi xii 2 Miscellaneous 1 01 04 Acknowledgements Acknowledgements 01 eng 01 01 JB code cvs.5.02acr 06 10.1075/cvs.5.02acr xiii xiv 2 Miscellaneous 2 01 04 Acronyms Acronyms 01 eng 01 01 JB code cvs.5.03int 06 10.1075/cvs.5.03int xv xviii 4 Miscellaneous 3 01 04 Introduction: Introduction: 01 04 Dialog theory for critical argumentation Dialog theory for critical argumentation 01 eng 01 01 JB code cvs.5.04cha 06 10.1075/cvs.5.04cha 1 45 45 Chapter 4 01 04 Chapter 1.
