It uses the interdisciplinary discourse-historical approach to critical discourse analysis to examine what discursive strategies are used in different texts, and also to investigate salient features of context. This allows a broader discussion of the role of this language in Scotland, and how different ways of constructing a language can percolate through society, appearing in both important, elite texts and discussions among ordinary people. It thus contributes to the body of knowledge about contemporary Scots, but also expands the range of possible applications for critical discourse analysis approaches. 01 00 03 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/475/dapsac.51.png 01 01 D502 https://benjamins.com/covers/475_jpg/9789027206428.jpg 01 01 D504 https://benjamins.com/covers/475_tif/9789027206428.tif 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/1200_front/dapsac.51.hb.png 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/125/dapsac.51.png 02 00 03 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/1200_back/dapsac.51.hb.png 03 00 03 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/3d_web/dapsac.51.hb.png 01 01 JB code dapsac.51.00ack 06 10.1075/dapsac.51.00ack vii vii 1 Miscellaneous 1 01 04 Acknowledgements Acknowledgements 01 01 JB code dapsac.51.01lof 06 10.1075/dapsac.51.01lof xiii xiii 1 Miscellaneous 2 01 04 List of figures List of figures 01 01 JB code dapsac.51.02lot 06 10.1075/dapsac.51.02lot xiv xiv 1 Miscellaneous 3 01 04 List of tables List of tables 01 01 JB code dapsac.51.03loa 06 10.1075/dapsac.51.03loa xv xv 1 Miscellaneous 4 01 04 List of abbreviations List of abbreviations 01 01 JB code dapsac.51.04tra 06 10.1075/dapsac.51.04tra xvi xvi 1 Miscellaneous 5 01 04 Transcription conventions Transcription conventions 01 01 JB code dapsac.51.05ch1 06 10.1075/dapsac.51.05ch1 1 8 8 Chapter 6 01 04 1.
