Using critical discourse analysis, this book firstly deconstructs the racist, xenophobic and discriminatory arguments against Muslims. Secondly, it highlights the anti-racist counter-discourse to these arguments. Since blatantly racist statements are less common nowadays, the book focuses on manifestations of ‘culturalist racism’. It does this by investigating how talk about Muslims positions them as not Australian or as not belonging to Australia – the book takes such ‘discursive exclusion from the nation’ as one of the most widespread forms of ‘culturalist racism’ in Western liberal-democracies. In addition to contributing to the theoretical discussion on the relationship between Muslims, racism and anti-racism, the book expands on methods that apply critical discourse analysis and the discourse-historical approach by providing a practical guide to analysing anti-racist political discourses. 01 00 03 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/475/dapsac.72.png 01 01 D502 https://benjamins.com/covers/475_jpg/9789027206633.jpg 01 01 D504 https://benjamins.com/covers/475_tif/9789027206633.tif 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/1200_front/dapsac.72.hb.png 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/125/dapsac.72.png 02 00 03 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/1200_back/dapsac.72.hb.png 03 00 03 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/3d_web/dapsac.72.hb.png 01 01 JB code dapsac.72.001abb 06 10.1075/dapsac.72.001abb xi xi 1 Article 1 01 04 List of acronyms and abbreviations List of acronyms and abbreviations 01 01 JB code dapsac.72.002lot 06 10.1075/dapsac.72.002lot xiii xii Article 2 01 04 List of tables List of tables 01 01 JB code dapsac.72.003lof 06 10.1075/dapsac.72.003lof xv xv 1 Article 3 01 04 List of figures List of figures 01 01 JB code dapsac.72.ack 06 10.1075/dapsac.72.ack xvii xvii 1 Miscellaneous 4 01 04 Acknowledgements Acknowledgements 01 01 JB code dapsac.72.int 06 10.1075/dapsac.72.int xix xxiv 6 Miscellaneous 5 01 04 Introduction Introduction 01 01 JB code dapsac.72.p1 06 10.1075/dapsac.72.p1 1 47 47 Section header 6 01 04 Part I.
