Basing her study on detailed new data collected during extensive fieldwork, and focusing on finite verb movement; on multiple access to the left periphery; on pro licensing and on the distribution of OV/VO word orders, the author refutes the traditional view that the syntactic variation found in Mòcheno is due to the presence of two competing grammars as a consequence of contact with Romance varieties and accounts for the peculiarities of Mòcheno syntax within a theory couched in the framework of Generative Grammar. This book contributes to our understanding of the verb-second phenomenon and sheds new light on the asymmetries between Old Romance and Germanic verb-second languages. A useful tool for all linguists working on both theoretical and comparative syntax and to anyone interested in language variation, dialectology and typology. 04 09 01 https://benjamins.com/covers/475/la.201.png 04 03 01 https://benjamins.com/covers/475_jpg/9789027255846.jpg 04 03 01 https://benjamins.com/covers/475_tif/9789027255846.tif 06 09 01 https://benjamins.com/covers/1200_front/la.201.hb.png 07 09 01 https://benjamins.com/covers/125/la.201.png 25 09 01 https://benjamins.com/covers/1200_back/la.201.hb.png 27 09 01 https://benjamins.com/covers/3d_web/la.201.hb.png 10 01 JB code la.201.01ack ix 1 Miscellaneous 1 <TitleType>01</TitleType> <TitleText textformat="02">Acknowledgments</TitleText> 10 01 JB code la.201.02lis xi xii 2 Miscellaneous 2 <TitleType>01</TitleType> <TitleText textformat="02">List of abbreviations</TitleText> 10 01 JB code la.201.03ch1 1 17 17 Chapter 3 <TitleType>01</TitleType> <TitleText textformat="02">1.
