It integrates the interpretation of non-argument reflexives into a modified version of recent theories of binding. The ambiguity of the reflexive pronoun is derived at the interface between syntax and semantics and does not rely on additional lexical or syntactic rules of argument suppression and argument promotion. This shift towards the semantic interpretation of syntactic arguments enables the author to offer a unified analysis of the middle, the anticausative and the reflexive interpretations. Furthermore, the crucial distinction between structural and oblique case forms is discussed and it is illustrated how specific properties of middle constructions such as adverbial modification or subject responsibility can be related to the generic interpretation of middle constructions. 01 00 03 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/475/la.50.png 01 01 D502 https://benjamins.com/covers/475_jpg/9789027227713.jpg 01 01 D504 https://benjamins.com/covers/475_tif/9789027227713.tif 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/1200_front/la.50.hb.png 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/125/la.50.png 02 00 03 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/1200_back/la.50.hb.png 03 00 03 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/3d_web/la.50.hb.png 01 01 JB code la.50.01ack 06 10.1075/la.50.01ack ix Miscellaneous 1 01 04 Acknowledgments Acknowledgments 01 eng 01 01 JB code la.50.02lis 06 10.1075/la.50.02lis xi Miscellaneous 2 01 04 List of abbreviations List of abbreviations 01 eng 01 01 JB code la.50.03int 06 10.1075/la.50.03int 1 16 16 Chapter 3 01 04 1.
