The twelve chapters combine linguistic analysis with insights from cognitive psychology and cognitive linguistics in order to arrive at innovative accounts of a range of literary and textual phenomena. The chapters cover a variety of literary texts, periods, and genres, including poetry, fictional and non-fictional narratives, and plays. Some of the chapters provide new approaches to phenomena that have a long tradition in literary and linguistic studies (such as humour, characterisation, figurative language, and metre), others focus on phenomena that have not yet received adequate attention (such as split-selves phenomena, mind style, and spatial language). This book is relevant to students and scholars in a wide range of areas within linguistics, literary studies and cognitive science. 01 00 03 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/475/lal.1.png 01 01 D502 https://benjamins.com/covers/475_jpg/9789027233318.jpg 01 01 D504 https://benjamins.com/covers/475_tif/9789027233318.tif 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/1200_front/lal.1.pb.png 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/125/lal.1.png 02 00 03 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/1200_back/lal.1.pb.png 03 00 03 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/3d_web/lal.1.pb.png 01 01 JB code lal.1.01ack 06 10.1075/lal.1.01ack vii Miscellaneous 1 01 04 Acknowledgements Acknowledgements 01 eng 01 01 JB code lal.1.02sem 06 10.1075/lal.1.02sem ix xvi 8 Miscellaneous 2 01 04 Foreword Foreword 1 A01 01 JB code 71017236 Elena Semino Semino, Elena Elena Semino Lancaster University, UK 07 https://benjamins.com/catalog/persons/71017236 2 A01 01 JB code 612017237 Jonathan Culpeper Culpeper, Jonathan Jonathan Culpeper Lancaster University, UK 07 https://benjamins.com/catalog/persons/612017237 01 eng 01 01 JB code lal.1.03ham 06 10.1075/lal.1.03ham 1 22 22 Chapter 3 01 04 Conceptual integration in Christine de Pizan's City of Ladies Conceptual integration in Christine de Pizan’s City of Ladies 1 A01 01 JB code 837017238 Craig A.
