00 Formulaic sequences (FS) are now recognized as an essential element of language use. However, research on FS has generally been limited to a focus on description, or on the place of FS in L1 acquisition. This volume opens new directions in FS research, concentrating on how FS are acquired and processed by the mind, both in the L1 and L2. The ten original studies in the volume illustrate the L2 acquisition of FS, the relationship between L1 and L2 FS, the relationship between corpus recurrence of FS and their psycholinguistic reality, the processes involved in reading FS, and pedagogical issues in teaching FS. The studies use a wide range of methodologies, many of them innovative, and thus the volume serves as a model for future research in the area. The volume begins with three survey chapters offering a background on the characteristics and measurement of FS. 01 00 03 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/475/lllt.9.png 01 01 D502 https://benjamins.com/covers/475_jpg/9789027217073.jpg 01 01 D504 https://benjamins.com/covers/475_tif/9789027217073.tif 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/1200_front/lllt.9.hb.png 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/125/lllt.9.png 02 00 03 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/1200_back/lllt.9.hb.png 03 00 03 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/3d_web/lllt.9.hb.png 01 01 JB code lllt.9.01pre 06 10.1075/lllt.9.01pre viii Miscellaneous 1 01 04 Preface Preface 01 eng 01 01 JB code lllt.9.02sch 06 10.1075/lllt.9.02sch 1 22 22 Article 2 01 04 Formulaic sequences in action Formulaic sequences in action 01 04 An introduction An introduction 1 A01 01 JB code 98041515 Norbert Schmitt Schmitt, Norbert Norbert Schmitt 07 https://benjamins.com/catalog/persons/98041515 2 A01 01 JB code 651041516 Ronald Carter Carter, Ronald Ronald Carter 07 https://benjamins.com/catalog/persons/651041516 01 eng 01 01 JB code lllt.9.03rea 06 10.1075/lllt.9.03rea 23 35 13 Article 3 01 04 Measurement of formulaic sequences Measurement of formulaic sequences 1 A01 01 JB code 932041517 John Read Read, John John Read 07 https://benjamins.com/catalog/persons/932041517 2 A01 01 JB code 161041518 I.S.P.
