This book discusses code-switching in Czech as a challenge for sociolinguists. 03 00 Czech, a clear case of a language having a Standard and a strong central vernacular with intensive shifting between them, offers many points of general interest to sociolinguists. This volume is divided in 5 chapters and opens with a general discussion of language varieties. 'The Two Central Language Formations in Czech' gives a summary description of the Czech central vernacular. This is followed by a chapter on 'The Origin and Opposition of Standard and Common Czech' and in the next chapter code switching between Standard and Common Czech is discussed. The concluding chapter presents starting points for a theoretical description of a national language with intralingual variation and a preliminary formulation of perspectives on the stratification of Czech. 01 00 03 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/475/llsee.39.png 01 01 D502 https://benjamins.com/covers/475_jpg/9789027215482.jpg 01 01 D504 https://benjamins.com/covers/475_tif/9789027215482.tif 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/1200_front/llsee.39.hb.png 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/125/llsee.39.png 02 00 03 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/1200_back/llsee.39.hb.png 03 00 03 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/3d_web/llsee.39.hb.png 01 01 JB code llsee.39.01pre 06 10.1075/llsee.39.01pre v Miscellaneous 1 01 04 Preface Preface 01 eng 01 01 JB code llsee.39.02ack 06 10.1075/llsee.39.02ack vii Miscellaneous 2 01 04 Acknowledgements Acknowledgements 01 eng 01 01 JB code llsee.39.03con 06 10.1075/llsee.39.03con ix Miscellaneous 3 01 04 Contents Contents 01 eng 01 01 JB code llsee.39.04sty 06 10.1075/llsee.39.04sty 1 Chapter 4 01 04 1. 01 00 03 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/475/llsee.39.png 01 01 D502 https://benjamins.com/covers/475_jpg/9789027215482.jpg 01 01 D504 https://benjamins.com/covers/475_tif/9789027215482.tif 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/1200_front/llsee.39.hb.png 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/125/llsee.39.png 02 00 03 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/1200_back/llsee.39.hb.png 03 00 03 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/3d_web/llsee.39.hb.png 01 01 JB code llsee.39.01pre 06 10.1075/llsee.39.01pre v Miscellaneous 1 01 04 Preface Preface 01 01 JB code llsee.39.02ack 06 10.1075/llsee.39.02ack vii Miscellaneous 2 01 04 Acknowledgements Acknowledgements 01 01 JB code llsee.39.03con 06 10.1075/llsee.39.03con ix Miscellaneous 3 01 04 Contents Contents 01 01 JB code llsee.39.04sty 06 10.1075/llsee.39.04sty 1 Chapter 4 01 04 1.
