These include the general issue of Creole genesis and of the accelerated linguistic change that characterizes the emergence of these languages as compared to ordinary cases of linguistic change, the problem of the development of morphology in incipient Creoles, the problem of the validity of data in linguistic analysis, the issue of multifunctionality as regards the concept of lexical entry, the question of whether Creole languages are semantically more transparent than languages not known as Creoles, the issue of whether Creole languages constitute a typologically identifiable class and the problem of the interaction between the processes involved in the emergence and development of Creole languages. The purpose of this book is to present the major debates that are currently taking place in the field of Creole studies; evaluate the arguments against data (mainly drawn from Haitian Creole); and address the issues at stake within the framework of new paradigms. The various positions on each issue are summarized on the basis of a thorough review of the literature. 01 00 03 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/475/slcs.70.png 01 01 D502 https://benjamins.com/covers/475_jpg/9789027230805.jpg 01 01 D504 https://benjamins.com/covers/475_tif/9789027230805.tif 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/1200_front/slcs.70.hb.png 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/125/slcs.70.png 02 00 03 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/1200_back/slcs.70.hb.png 03 00 03 01 01 D503 https://benjamins.com/covers/3d_web/slcs.70.hb.png 01 01 JB code slcs.70.01lis 06 10.1075/slcs.70.01lis xi Miscellaneous 1 01 04 List of tables List of tables 01 01 JB code slcs.70.02pre 06 10.1075/slcs.70.02pre xiii Miscellaneous 2 01 04 Preface Preface 01 01 JB code slcs.70.03lis 06 10.1075/slcs.70.03lis xv Miscellaneous 3 01 04 List of abbreviations List of abbreviations 01 01 JB code slcs.70.04int 06 10.1075/slcs.70.04int 1 Chapter 4 01 04 Introduction Introduction 01 01 JB code slcs.70.05the 06 10.1075/slcs.70.05the 7 Chapter 5 01 04 The genesis of pidgin and creole languages: A State of the Art The genesis of pidgin and creole languages: A State of the Art 01 01 JB code slcs.70.06the 06 10.1075/slcs.70.06the 37 Chapter 6 01 04 The relexification account of creole genesis.
