Aside from their documentary value, the ten papers of this volume are of interest for several reasons: they contain interesting data and observations on the languages themselves, in particular Trinidadian Creole, Guyanese Creole, St. Kitts Creole, and Bahamian English. Additionally, the contributions are significant for the insights they have into the importance of variation, a topic which must be confronted by those who investigate pidgins and creoles. Apart from Bickerton’s paper dealing with universals, the papers are presented according to the geographic area where the linguistic systems are used. 04 09 01 https://benjamins.com/covers/475/veaw.g2.png 04 03 01 https://benjamins.com/covers/475_jpg/9783872762450.jpg 04 03 01 https://benjamins.com/covers/475_tif/9783872762450.tif 06 09 01 https://benjamins.com/covers/1200_front/veaw.g2.pb.png 07 09 01 https://benjamins.com/covers/125/veaw.g2.png 25 09 01 https://benjamins.com/covers/1200_back/veaw.g2.pb.png 27 09 01 https://benjamins.com/covers/3d_web/veaw.g2.pb.png 10 01 JB code veaw.g2.01ack iii 1 Miscellaneous 1 <TitleType>01</TitleType> <TitleText textformat="02">Acknowledgments</TitleText> 10 01 JB code veaw.g2.02day vii 1 Miscellaneous 2 <TitleType>01</TitleType> <TitleText textformat="02">Introduction</TitleText> 1 A01 Richard R.
