The authors discuss the processes of communication in general and through language in particular; they analyze some features and functions of language that are of relevance for developing a 'learning through listening' test (contextuality, register, relationship); they discuss the capacity of 'listening' and its relevance as a didactic goal; and finally they present the 'learning through listening' test, for testing the quality of listening.
