Annotation

An essential aspect of the interpretation of utterances, i.e. disambiguation and determination of referents, can be accounted for by Grice's hypotheses, no matter whether irony and metaphor are to be explained by other mechanism than implicature. Grice's maxims should be reduced to a unique axiom of relevance.
