The authors mention the case of it-clefts in which extra stress within the complement can release the stressed item from its presupposition when there is a matrix negation: e.g. 'It isn't John that shot Mary' does not presuppose 'Someone shot Mary' but'Someone shot someone'; therefore it can be followed by 'It's Mary that shot John'.
