The authors examine the role and status of a mixed KiSwahili-English language variant, used at the University of Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. The specific functional role of Campus KiSwahili is traced back to attitudes and values associated with both Engilsh and KiSwahili, as a result of Tanzanian language planning policy.
