Annotation
An analysis of speech rhythm as a contextualization cue. Three questions are asked: (i) What counts as a rhythmic beat? (ii) How can the regularity of beats be judged? (iii) What exactly does rhythm contextualize in verbal interaction? The latter question is examined with respect to question-answer sequences in everyday conversation.
