Annotation

The comprehension of direct directives and non conventional indirect directives is studied in 3 to 8-year-old children. Three groups of 24 children perform a story completion task in the form of commic strips. In addition to the common variables, children's age and linguistic nature of the utterance, the study is concerned with the role of the production context strenght (strong or weak context), which is shown to be a relevant factor in the comprehension of directives.
