C. argues for a modular account of language (which assumes that (a) knowledge of language is distinct from knowledge about the use of language, and (b) the two independent systems of grammar and pragmatics are connected to each other), through theoretical argumentation and a reanalysis of three areas of interaction between grammar and pragmatics: sense adjective verb constructions, subject honorification, and periphrastic causative constructions.
