Annotation
D. examines acquisition data from Sesotho, an SVO Bantu language. Based on the observation that children initially use SVO word order, but around the age of 2,5 years begin to use different word orders, the author discusses the functions of these word orders in spontaneous child speech, giving special attention to the linguistic and discourse environments where children make maximum use of the word order possibilities in this language.
