Annotation
D. re-examines his classification of converted verbs (1979: 'Can case grammar cope with conversions?'). Three questions are asked: (a) What is the relationship of the case relations in conversions to the total set of possible case relations? (b) What cognitive principles underlie the formation, use, and interpretation of converted verbs? (c) Is there an explanation for the varying productivity of conversion in the single subclasses?
