Annotation
D. examines how four properties of speech-in-interaction (multifunctionality, reflexivity, sequentiality, and interactivity) are manifested in one narrative segment in a verbal exchange among four Italian female university students in Rome. The use of the demonstrative 'questo' ('this one') and its relationship to other syntactic and semantic elements within the same narrative is examined. The observed phenomena are then reconsidered as a particular case of a more general interactional construct labeled 'translocutionary act', transcending clause and speech act boundaries.
