A syntactic, semantic, and pragmatic analysis of grammatical constructions containing the conjunction 'let alone'. It is suggested that an explanatory model of grammar should include principles by which a language can associate semantic and pragmatic interpretation principles with semantic configurations larger and more complex than those definable by means of simple phrase structure rules.
