It is argued that any attempt at treating tempus and time adverbs as one syntactic-semantic category is bound to fail. Tempus must be handled as a proadverb. The parameters of speech time and act time must be replaced by the time parameters of evaluation time, consideration time, and act time. Moreover it is shown how time adverbs should be handled.
