Frequency of negotiation of meaning between non-native learners of English (L2) is investigated in relation to foreign language speaker negotiations, revealing more negotiation instances in the L2 context than in the foreign language context, while both contexts display high negotiation frequency in tasks involving information exchange and transfer.
