Annotation

A case is made for two types of cooperative principle: one for linguistic goals (locutionary) and one for extralinguistic goals (perlocutionary). It is noted that the nonlinguistic goals cannot be determined a priori. Motivation for this additional principle can be found in the work of Grice and Kempson and in other scientific disciplines as well.
