Annotation

The Burmese classifier system is said to be coherent because it is based on a single semantic dimension, deixis. It is also said to map nature and to express precisely where one is placing oneself and what one is talking about: it establishes in the surface structure the universe of discourse of a speech act, within a culturally shared image of nature.
