Annotation
The present study examines whether changes in the knowledge transfer from L1 to L2 can be observed at different learning stages. Concrete questions are whether adult U.S. native English speakers who are Spanish learners of various levels of proficiency can recognize the speech act of suggestions in the foreign language and to what extent first language pragmatic information is transferred in the comprehension of a foreign language speech act and what variables can affect this transfer.
