Annotation

This contribution outlines a way in which a stratified model of context within a systemic functional linguistics framework can be used to show how interpersonal meaning (esp. affect) inflects experiental meaning to give shape and significance to the generic staging of one Australian junior secondary school text. The model is also used to explore how the narrative projects an underlying message or theme, the students are expected to uncover when responding critically to narrative.
