Annotation
Following Myers-Scotton's Matrix Language Frame Model, the authors observe that codeswitching between a dominant and a subordinate language amounts to an 'unequal partnership'. They identify a mechanism of codeswitching that doesn't assign such statuses of dominance or subordinance called 'language alternation', which is then exemplified by French-Moroccan Arabic discourse.
