Annotation

The authors suggest that features of social situations and the communicative anxiety they generate in speakers have a major influence on various speech dysfluencies. The literature is reviewed, and a preliminary model is proposed, linking features of social situations through the mediating factors of communication responsibility and the need for control to the occurrence of speech dysfluencies.
