Annotation

A presentation of the main topics of contemporary syntactic theory from the perspective of both 'formal' and 'functional(ist)' approaches to linguistics. It is argued that the main tenets of generativism, in interaction with insights from other linguistic frameworks, may provide compelling accounts of syntactic phenomena such as prototype effects and grammaticalization.
