The present paper demonstrates, on the one hand, the possible occurrences of lexically unrealized arguments in Hungarian and the interpretation mechanisms which identify them. On the other hand, it examines how the principle of relevance guides these phenomena, and what general constraints it assigns to the production and interpretation of implicit arguments.
