Annotation
The present paper examines patterns of register variation in English, Korean and Somali from the perspective of Multi-Dimensional analysis, showing how all three exploit the potential of the written mode to develop styles of linguistic expression not found in the spoken mode. In all three languages written professional registers systematically differ from other spoken and written registers.
