Annotation

The author argues that inversions after deictic adverbs and those after non-deictic locative constituents are very much related in kind. Both are regarded as devices for expressing a point of view in discourse and of thereby establishing a particular perspective which the speaker assumes. Through directing the focus of attention to discourse entities full inversion can furthermore contribute to the organization of discourse.
