Annotation

Drawing from corpus-based research on the 'discourse of corporate disclosure', the author investigates the audience-directedness of press releases, suggesting that the genre's special brand of divided illocution is reflected in the institutional voices that characterize the production end, viz. in the use of impersonal identity forms and in the distribution of direct speech in the corpus.
