In examining representative discourse from Russian native speaker and non-native speaker classrooms, the author focuses on three issues: metapragmatic conditions and pre-conditions in crosscultural (American and Russian) classrooms; discourse regulation and NS interruptions; NNS interruptions and the potential for miscommunication.
