Annotation

This paper investigates the role of Hungarian connective ÉS 'and' in the pragmatic coherence of discourses. The paper differentiates three main types of the use of ÉS on the basis of a 310-minute-long spoken corpora, as well as on the basis of the examples formerly analyzed in the literature. All three types are derived from the same core meaning and characterized in the same manner by means of four cognitive primitives.
