This article studies the behavior of four Hungarian pragmatic connectives. Using the illocutionary, interpersonal and attitudinal functions as well as the four cognitive primitives of coherence relations, the paper characterizes the pragmatic roles of these connectives. A central, core use has been established for each connective and particular uses in particular contexts can be derived from these core uses.
