In the first part of the book an overview is given on what is the role of language in human culture, in general and that in the life of society, in particular. In the second one the (inter)relation of language as a system and language use is described. In the following section language use is defined as a communication process with the latter determined by several effectiveness/efficiency parameters. Finally, three main areas of communication disorders in everyday language use are discussed in some detail: disorders in the dimension of interpersonal relations, those at the level of lexical units as predicates and modifiers, and those in controlling the communication process.
