This articles focuses on orality and literacy with respect to effective communication in televized interviews in German (Hannah Arendt by Günter Gaus) and, to a lesser extent, in English (Princess Diana by Martin Bashir). Spoken syllable ratios, length of turns, speech tempo, hesitations, and interviewer styles are compared.
