This paper reports on a qualitative (linguistic) follow-up study of a quantitative content analysis aimed at discovering representations of the foreign in the British and Polish presses. It is concluded that content analysis is best complemented by critical discourse analysis, because the latter is able to exhibit patterns of discursive representations.
