Annotation
This paper reviews transcription practices, including their interpretive and representational decisions. It is shown that both naturalized and denaturalized transcription styles can potentially be used as politicized tools of linguistic representation. The author pleads for a reflexive transcription practice, one which involves awareness and acknowledgment of the transcriber's limitations.
