On the effects of direct criticism versus indirect criticism (via sarcasm). Participants judging passages of direct and indirect criticism reported verbal aggression as primary factor. Differences in point-of-view indicated that the effect the speaker thinks his criticism may differ from how the victim experiences the effect.
