This paper reports on four medium-dependent linguistic choices that the language user makes in presenting his or her message: phonic presentation of encoder in speech, graphic presentation of decoder-encoder when listening and transcribing, graphic presentation of encoder in writing and phonic presentation of decoder-encoder in reading. A case is made for a general framework for presentation structures.
