A semantic, pragmatic, and sociolinguistic analysis of Jordanian sexual identity in relation to compliment behavior, attitudes and values. Discourse strategies and social relationships involved in the compliment responses are also discussed. It is observed that speaker gender is instrumental to the formulation and acceptance/rejection of a compliment.
