This book outlines a theory of human text comprehension. Two stages are distinguished in this Construction-Integration model: first, construction rules shape inaccurate representations, which are then integrated by way of a node activation process. The theory is evaluated in light of contemporary issues in cognitive science, such as the role of working memory in comprehension.
