Annotation

This investigation into the (socio)linguistic dynamics of Caïro challenges the widespread view that linguistic resources are based on a vernacular/standard continuum, in which women lead men both in the use of established “standard” forms and in the use of “non-standard” incoming variants introduced in the speech of working-class and lower middle-class speakers.
