Adressing the American Congress and the American citizen abroad, explaining why overseas Americans should be considered an 'asset' and what they can do for their country abroad, the author reports sociolinguistic experiences and the history of actions undertaken by herself and other Americans abroad, from the sixties onwards, to obtain equal legislative treatment.
