Annotation

This book discusses the growth of Sanskritized Hindi in nineteenth century North India and the Hindi-Urdu (esp. script-) differentiation process -derived from one source, Khari Boli- determined by religious and political motives stirred by the 19th century Hindu Movement and by encouragement of inconsistent British language policies promoting Hindi-use in education and Urdu in administration.
